Nintendo DS Box Art Revealed? Retailers have leaked out what could be the format of the Nintendo DS box layout. October 05, 2004 - Retailers such as Gamestop have posted what appears to be boxart for Nintendo DS games such as Spider-Man and Super Mario 64, two games assumed to be launch titles for the upcoming dual-screen handheld. The boxes feature a standard square format with a unique "Nintendo DS" branding along the left edge of the package. This branding is similar to what Nintendo has done with the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance software. Nintendo offered the usual "Nintendo does not comment on rumors or speculation" statement when asked if these would be final package art. We're assuming that while the actual artwork on the box is temporary, the branding bar on the left accurately represents what will be on the box when the games hit shelves this November. As of October 5th, Gamestop has removed the "official" box of Super Mario 64 from its order page and replaced it with a mock-up designed by the site. Which leads us to believe that the artwork is possibly official packaging and that it was removed upon request by Nintendo of America. We could not get confirmation on the package material of Nintendo DS boxes. Current Game Boy Advance and past Game Boy games are packaged in crushable, disposable cardboard boxes. We're hoping that Nintendo offers a much more durable and storable solution for the Nintendo DS: plastic snap cases. When we know, we'll let you know.
